John has been playing whistle for over 30 years and has led Irish sessions in Kansas City and Midland, Michigan.  He has also created tune books to support these sessions and, while in Kansas, played in a number of Irish bands.  His musical journey started in 5 grade playing the saxophone.  After college he began playing bodhran and then graduated to string instruments and continue to work on clawhammer banjo, Irish tenor banjo, tenor guitar, and octave mandolin.   Music has been a major passion of his throughout my life.
